
Outreach & Prevention Program
Summit recognizes that prevention is a key component to the fight against eating disorders. We provide several levels of outreach and prevention and provide training and continuing educations for as well.
Please note that while Summit makes every attempt to fulfill presentation requests, there are times that we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
School Prevention Program
Summit provides prevention programs to Sacramento area schools for grades 9 - 12. Classroom presentations include:
- Introduction to Eating Disorders
- Media Awareness
- Body Image
- How to Help a Friend
College Outreach
A variety of presentations are available at the college level and can be adapted according to the needs of the particular class. Presentations can be designed for general education classes up to graduate level courses. Topics include:
- Introduction to Eating Disorders
- Nutritional Aspects of Eating Disorders
- Treatment Information
- Therapeutic techniques
Teacher In-service and PTA Outreach
Trainings for school faculty can be incorporated into a staff meeting or school in-service. Presentations include information on:
- How to Identify Eating Disorders
- How to Help Someone with an Eating Disorder
- Incorporating Eating Disorder Education in the School Curriculum
- Media Awareness
Parent education can be incorporated into PTA meetings and other parent organizations. Presentation topics include:
- How to Identify Eating Disorders
- How to Help Your Loved One with an Eating Disorder
- Promoting Healthy Body Image and Self Esteem
